There’s an old saying, I’m not sure exactly how it goes, but it’s something like this:

”A smart man learns from his mistakes, a truly wise man learns from the mistakes of others.”

That, in a nutshell, is the main purpose of this blog.  My wife, Donna, and I have lived here in Ecuador for a total of six years.  We’ve made some mistakes during that time.   If you’ve ever thought about visiting a foreign country, or even moving to one, this is your chance learn from them.  On the other hand, we’ve done one or two things right along the way and we’ll be happy to share that with you as well.

Over the years we have had the opportunity to meet and befriend other ex-patriots, some of whom have lived here for up to fifty years!  They have been an invaluable source of advice on making a success of life in a foreign country.  It will be my pleasure to pass that advice along to you as well.

So, if you’re planning to visit and are looking for something to do, we’ll let you know about the places we’ve enjoyed and which ones we avoid.

If you’re considering making the move to a foreign country, some of the things we’ve learned while living here may be of help to you.

If you’re not in the market for either, you may be entertained by some of the things we and others have experienced while living here in Ecuador.

It is my sincerest hope that you will find this blog entertaining, educational, and especially useful
